Depression, Anxiety, and Copper IUD

Copper toxicity and Panic Attacks and Depression

I hesitated to write this post because it is about depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. I am not a medical doctor and certainly am not trying to diagnose or treat disease. I'm sharing information that I've read about, had first hand experience about, and feel it could be helpful to others. I feel that the information about copper toxicity and depression, panic attacks, and anxiety is really important and not always recognized by medical doctors or holistic doctors.

My Friend's Story

Recently, a friend of mine became very depressed. So much so that she was not able to concentrate enough to go to work. She was prone to crying all day and exhausted. It was out of character for her. She never had a history of depression and was normally confident and independent. She started to feel helpless and that she couldn't depend on herself. She felt like she was falling apart.

My friend went to her family doctor and many specialists. She had every possible test taken including thyroid, blood sugar, cholesterol, heart, liver, etc. that could possibly reveal an imbalance, a medical problem, or a nutritional deficiency.
Every test revealed that she was totally healthy.
Yet, she felt exhausted, depressed, unable to function. She did not have anything upsetting her or bothering her. She was unable to perform the work duties that she had been proficient at for the past 25 years. She was crying constantly and felt incapable and helpless.

She eventually consulted a holistic doctor out of desperation. This doctor suggested an 80% raw food diet, supplements, yoga, deep breathing, herbs, herbal teas etc.
She didn't feel any better.
She feared she might have to take a leave of absence from her job.
No one could understand how she went from a healthy, vibrant, confident, happy, vivacious woman of 46 to a helpless, dependent, crying person in 6 months!

In desperation, I sat down with her and said-" let's look at what changed in your life over the last 6 months!" She went through her life and felt like nothing had changed - nothing except she had changed her type of birth control to now using a new shiny copper IUD!!

The minute she said "copper" IUD- alarms went off!!!
I was familiar with copper toxicity and knew that it could make a person feel crazy, depressed, and anxious. I suggested she consider having the copper IUD removed. Although she didn't really believe there could be a connection, she was looking for relief and decided to have it removed by her doctor asap!
The story has a happy ending-
A few weeks after removing the copper IUD and taking some nutritional supplements to help remove (flush) the accumulated copper from her system , she returned to her normal self.
It's been a year and she feels fine- like it never happened!!

Swimming Pools May Contain CopperInitially, she felt a reaction when she went into a swimming pool, since some of the chemicals used in swimming pools are copper based and copper levels can really build in a swimming pool and then absorb into your body. There are kits that you can use to test the copper levels  in a swimming pool. I bought this one
Now a year later with her copper levels under control, she is able to swim in pools without reactions! You can also test drinking water if you have copper pipes

Copper toxicity and Panic Attacks and Depression
Do you have a copper IUD or exposed to copper through copper pipes, soy foods, vegan diet, swimming pools, etc.? Do you have panic attacks or are depressed?
You may be suffering from copper toxicity .

I am posting this information because high copper levels which can come from an IUD, copper pipes, the chemicals in swimming pools, foods high in copper, hormonal imbalance after childbirth,  etc. can cause an imbalance in the body that cause symptoms of depression/anxiety/panic attacks +.
It is very common in women- yet goes undiagnosed.

So many suffer because doctors and even holistic practitioners are unfamiliar or unaware of the relationship between high copper levels in the body and depression/anxiety.

Although copper is a nutrient that we need in our body, excess copper can be very toxic.
I am listing some links that I found on the Internet that you can learn more about it .
You might help yourself or someone you know.

BEWARE!
Many swimming pools have chemicals added to them that are copper based. This often many cause a reaction in some sensitive people. I avoided s

What is Pterygium and Pinguecula ?

[Extracted from the webpage of www.healthscout.com] A pterygium is a fleshy growth that invades the cornea (the clear front window of the eye). It is an abnormal process in which the conjunctiva (a membrane that covers the white of the eye) grows into the cornea. A pinguecula is a yellowish patch or bump on the white of the eye, most often on the side closest to the nose. It is not a tumor but an alteration of normal tissue resulting in a deposit of protein and fat. Unlike a pterygium, a pinguecula does not actually grow onto the cornea. A pinguecula may also be a response to chronic eye irritation or sunlight. Although pterygium and pinguecula sound like mysterious, arcane diseases, they are actually quite common, usually benign eye conditions. These lesions appear as a whitish-yellowish bump or fleshy "growth" on the exposed conjunctiva. If the bump appears only on the white part of the eye, it is called a pinguecula. If it appears to "grow" onto t

What is Angioplasty and Stenting ?

[Extracted from www.vascular.co.nz] An angioplasty is a procedure where a balloon is passed into your artery on the end of a tube (catheter) and is inflated (blown up) to treat a narrowed or blocked artery. The initiator of this technique was Charles Dotter , a radiologist in Oregon who started this work in 1964. The angioplasty technique means that surgery may be avoided in many cases. There are two techniques for performing angioplasty - transluminal and subintimal. In the transluminal technique the balloon is placed in the centre of the artery (in the lumen) where blood would normally flow. In subintimal angioplasty ( Bolia, 1989) the balloon is intentionally placed within the layers of the arterial wall. As far as the patient is concerned, angioplasty is very similar to an angiogram except that a slightly bigger catheter is used and therefore the risks of bleeding are slightly greater. For

What is Down Syndrome and its Causes ?

[Extracted from the webpage of  "Downsyndrome.about.com"] Down syndrome is caused by an extra number 21 chromosome. But what does this really mean ? To really understand what causes Down syndrome, you need to have a thorough understanding of what chromosomes are, and what they do. Genetic Information The easiest way to think of chromosomes is as packages of genetic information. The human body is made up of all different types of cells and inside each of these cells are our genes. Genes are the units of inheritance that are passed from one generation to another. They are located in every cell of our bodies and they provide the instructions for every structure and function of our body. Humans have about 25,000 different genes. Rather than having all 25,000 bouncing around inside cells individually, our genes are located or packaged on chromosomes rather like pearls on a necklace. Genes Genes are made of DNA which is a molecule made up of four different chemicals cal
