Benefits of Salt Crystal Lamps

[Extracted from the web page of www.natural-salt-lamps.com]

Bio-energetic crystal salt was created over millions of years ago, when the ocean waters dried up in various parts of the world. The crystal is hand excavated into various sizes and drilled inside to accommodate a light source. When lit by a small, energy efficient light bulb of 15 watt or less, crystal salt emits an electrical charge, enriching our environments with health promoting negative ions. Negative ions help purify the air of allergens, dust, smoke, bacteria and more. These natural qualities make them an excellent beautiful light source, natural air purifier and can help people with various health conditions including asthma, allergies and other respiratory ailments. They can be used in every room, safely and should be left on as much as possible.

Crystal salt is one of the few minerals whose atomic structure is bound electrically, not molecularly. This characteristic of the mineral structure enables the crystal to change back and forth from crystalline to liquid state.

The gentle heat of the lamp in the salt crystal creates a higher surface temperature than the surrounding air. This attracts the water molecules in the cooler surrounding air. The natural humidity in the air condenses on the crystal's surface. This enables the electrically bound sodium chloride mineral to split into independent (positive) sodium and (negative) chloride ions.

*
This natural ionization creates an electric charge. After the water molecules evaporate again, the sodium and chloride ions turn back into their crystalline mineral form. When the sun heats up our largest natural salt solutions, the oceans, it generates the natural energy vibration of which our entire global environment consists. Salt crystal creates exactly the same natural energy field. Scientifically speaking, this natural ionization process takes place millions of times, invisible to the eye, and without any influence to the quality of the crystal. Similar to the concept whereby tree leaves absorb dangerous dioxides and transform them into essential oxygen, without damaging the plant.

*

The atomic structure of crystal salt contains more negative, chloride ions than positive, sodium ions which result in the emission of negative ions during the natural ionization process. Negative ions become dust collectors, attaching themselves to positively charged dust particles and cigarette smoke, purifying the circulating indoors air from dust, bacteria and pollutants.

The size of the lamps and approximate ion radius is given next to each lamp size. For small spaces, smaller sized lamps will work fine. For larger spaces, having larger lamps or several smaller and medium lamps will work well. With salt lamps, you can never have too many.  We recommend starting with a few lamps, and placing in rooms that you are occupying most like the bedrooms and work offices.

Our bodies heal the best at night, so making sure your bedroom is tranquil and healthy will help your body get better rest and help your immune system. At work, we are surrounded by EMF (electro magnetic radiation) that has been known to cause various health conditions, including fatigue, and low concentration, which can cause other health issues if the body and mind are not relaxed and working properly. We recommend at least 1 salt lamp near every computer.

*

Again, you can never have too many salt lamps, so start with at least one lamp in every room possible and add more as you personally experience the benefits of nature’s most abundant and healthful resource, salt crystal.

Natural Salt lamps are for indoor use. Crystal Salt is hygroscopic; it draws moisture from the air.  In case of increased humidity, the lamp should be turned on. The heated salt lamp will dry itself off.  If the lamp is left off for periods of time, and becomes very damp--- unplug it. Take the electrical unit out.  If the unit is wet, place in a dry, place. Wipe the salt crystal with cotton towel until moisture is removed.  Following the drying process of the electrical unit and salt crystal, and reassembly, turn the lamp ON for couple of hours. Keep the lamp on a waterproof surface and or watch for moisture build up. If you store the salt lamp for long periods unlit, seal it in a plastic bag in a cool dry place. As lamp is heavy, keep out of reach from small children.

Another Falafel Cracker Recipe with Za'atar ( GF)

I know I made falafel crackers last week , but this is a totally different recipe. It's lighter and crispier than the previous recipe, so you might want to give these a try.  I had never made crackers before last week, but they are really fast, easy, and fun to make. A batch of these 50 crackers from start to finish took me under 30 minutes ( I didn't count the 15 minutes of chill time). In addition, they are gluten free, dairy free, egg free and delicious. We love falafel and it's interesting spices,  so naturally I knew we would love these tasty falafel flavored crisps. What makes them taste like falafel? The chick pea flour, the sesame seeds, the cumin, the turmeric, the coriander and the spice blend called za'atar. What is za'atar or zahtar? Za'atar is a prepared spice blend that is used in many Middle Eastern countries.Although the recipes might vary, Za'atar may be made of any of the following spices: ground thyme, oregano, marjoram, sumac, hyssop an...

This is an interesting gluten free snack idea and entertaining idea !  Can you imagine crackers that taste like falafel! For those of you who have tasted falafel before, you know you are in for a treat. For those who have never had falafel, you will have to trust me on this one. I assure you that the recipe is truly flavorful and is reminiscent of falafel. I found this recipe on a blog called May I Have That Recipe - a delightful blog created by two sisters who post vegetarian, vegan, and kosher recipes.
